GISD staff set record for angel tree adoptions

Dec. 11, 2020

Every year, the Garland ISD Research, Assessment & Accountability (RAAD) team organizes a Salvation Army Angel adoption drive. Our charitable staff typically adopt 100-plus Angels, but in classic Garland ISD fashion, our team surpassed any of our expectations during a pandemic. Last year, we collected around 150 Angels during a non-COVID season. This year, Team GISD adopted 387 Angels—setting a district record, more than doubling last season’s number and making us the first “corporate” tree to have a 100% adoption rate. We even had to ask for more Angels twice, due to the demand.

“All I can say is WOW!! It was stunning at how many Angels were adopted this year,” said District Testing Coordinator Courtney Clearfield. “So many kids will be blessed by the generosity of our GISD staff!”

A big inflatable Santa greeted staff as they safely dropped off their gifts from 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the Harris Hill Administration Building.

We are truly honored to have some of the most giving staff in the Metroplex, and wish to recognize their generous efforts.
