GISD students published in national publication

Dec. 11, 2022

Five Garland ISD students selected by iWrite Non Profit Organization to have their works published in national publication.

C.S. Lewis said, “You can make anything by writing.” That quote is powerful because it conveys how writing allows our students to be creative. It will enable them to express themselves. It allows them to tell THEIR stories.

Through writing, students become more creative and confident, which opens the door to opportunities they never had before. And a company that promotes writing in school-age children is the iWRITE Nonprofit Organization.

Their mission is to build student confidence through writing. iWRITE builds writing enthusiasm for students in grades 3-12 through fun writing and publishing programs designed by real authors. Publishing is a powerful incentive for learning and is a unique way to validate that a child’s voice is being heard.

Each year, young writers in the 3rd-12th grade, all across the globe, have the chance to be published authors. The iWRITE Non-Profit Organization offers students the opportunity to submit their writing and artwork to their annual publishing contest.

These phenomenal writers are:

  • Mia Andrea – Austin Academy
  • Jasmine John – Garland High School
  • Rhyslan Benson – Kimberlin Academy
  • Sierra Thompson – Rowlett High School
  • Wm. Patrick Cook – Sachse High School
