GISD teacher fired; police investigate alleged illegal activity

Jul. 28, 2022

CBS 11 has reported that police are investigating an incident in which a Garland ISD band teacher allegedly tried to meet up with a minor after corresponding on social media.

According to the report, Randy King, the principal at the Classical Center-Brandenburg Middle School, sent a letter to parents that acknowledged a YouTube video that allegedly showed the teacher engaged in unlawful activity. King stated in the letter that the teacher was fired and the police were called.

The CBS 11 report further stated that the alleged illegal activity took place in Allen. The YouTube video is entitled “Middle School Teacher Comes to Meet 14 Y/O at 2 AM, Meets Military Dad Instead.” The video, which was published on YouTube July 20 by Cassady Campbell, has received over 140,000 views.

Police, who were unaware of the alleged illegal activity before the video was posted, have now started an investigation. In addition, they want to remind the community of the dangers of attempting to catch predators on their own. Only law enforcement officials have the appropriate knowledge to conduct these investigations. Also, these types of “sting” operations can become violent and result in injury or death.

King asked parents to contact him or Garland ISD Title IX Coordinator Dr. Susanna Russell if they know of other potential victims.
