GMTA celebrates 56 years

Aug. 22, 2019

The Garland Music Teachers Association is an affiliate of the Texas Music Teachers Association. GMTA has approximately 25 members teaching in Garland, Wylie, Rowlett, Richardson and Dallas. GMTA meets once each month in Garland and would be honored to have new members.

Our membership includes teachers of private and group piano lessons, music theory, voice, guitar, harp and other instruments. Members can offer their students opportunities to participate in five recitals, a Christmas Play-a-thon at Macy’s at Firewheel Town Center and festivals such as jazz, hymn and sonata, Baroque, Romantic, Classical and impressionistic. Texas Music Teachers Association has a state theory test that teachers may choose to prepare their students to take. Students who pass their theory test have an opportunity to play at the Texas Music Teachers Association Convention in June.
