GPD arrests male for shooting gun from vehicle

Sunday, March 13, just after 10 p.m. Garland police officers responded to the report of a man shooting a handgun from a vehicle in the area of Saturn Road and Northwest Highway.

An officer who was in the area quickly located the described vehicle. It was determined the driver of this vehicle was the one firing the gun. He was arrested and the handgun believed to have been fired was recovered.

Officers also determined that the driver was intoxicated.police

The man arrested is identified as 41-year-old Juan Pablo Fuerte. He is charged with Discharging a Firearm in Certain Municipalities, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon and DWI-2nd.

The city of Garland is experiencing an increase in individuals firing a gun within the city limit. This is a reminder that shooting a gun within the city of Garland is ILLEGAL and will not be tolerated. Not only is firing a gun illegal, but it also is reckless and jeopardizes the safety of our community.

The Garland Police Department also wants to thank the involved citizen who called to report this incident, giving an accurate description that eventually led to the arrest.
