Update- GPD investigates death of 15-year-old – The shooting victim has been identified as Russell Deangelo Jefferson of Garland.
Detectives have identified Cesar Rocha, 18, of Dallas as the suspect in the shooting death of Jefferson. Rocha is cooperating with investigators and was taken into custody and charged with murder.
Detectives are continuing to investigate what led to the shooting. This is still an active investigation. Rocha is currently in the Garland City Jail. No bond has been set.
GPD investigates death of 15-year-old
On Wednesday, Dec. 6, at approximately 6 p.m. Garland Police Department (GPD) officers responded to a gunshot wound call in the 3900 block of Roanoke Drive. The caller stated that there was a male subject lying in the street and that it appeared the subject had been shot.
Garland emergency personnel, including the Garland Fire Department and Garland Police Department, arrived on the scene locating the male subject. The victim was quickly assessed and transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The victim was found to be a 15-year-old male. His identity is not being released.
GPD detectives are actively working the case trying to identify the person or persons involved.
This is an ongoing investigation.
