GPD investigates death of 21-year-old male – Update

Update –  murder of 21-year-old

Garland Police Department detectives have identified two persons of interest in the murder of Arturo Pena at 342 West Oates Road, Audubon Park Aug. 29. Warrants for Murder have been obtained for both Natalie Navarro (17) and Yordy Martinez (21).

During the investigation, Navarro became the subject of an Amber Alert issued by the Dallas Police Department  Friday, Sept. 1. Navarro was subsequently located by law enforcement and is currently safe and in custody.

Yordy Martinez is still at large and wanted for Murder.

Tuesday, Aug. 29, just after 10 a.m., officers from the Garland Police Department were dispatched to 342 West Oates Road, Audubon Park. There was a male subject possibly passed out in a vehicle. Officers arrived on the scene and determined the male was deceased with an injury indicating he was the victim of a gunshot. GPD detectives responded to the scene, and the victim was identified as 21-year-old Arturo Pena of Mesquite. Pena had been reported as a missing person to the Dallas Police Department Aug. 27, case No. 154529-2023. Detectives are actively working on the case and are processing all collected evidence.

This is an ongoing investigation. The Garland Police Department is encouraging anyone who has information to call the GPD at 972-485-4840.

Tips may also be submitted anonymously to Garland Crime Stoppers at 972-272-8477 (TIPS) or www.garlandcrimestoppers.org. Crime Stoppers will pay up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
