Saturday, May 11, just after 2 a.m., the Garland Police Department responded to a call of a gunshot wound in the 200 block of Rio Rita. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Garland Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male subject deceased at the scene. The investigation is ongoing and detectives are working the shooting as a homicide.
The victim has been identified as Edgar Mendoza Chico, 44, of Garland.
