In an update released Friday, Aug. 23, the Garland Police Department said that the person who voluntarily went to the police station was interviewed by detectives and later released.  He remains to be the suspect, but based on the investigation the case will be referred to the grand jury.

The Garland Police Department is investigating a possible road rage incident where a driver was shot Thursday, Aug. 22 at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Garland police officers responded to the report of a man shot in the 1300 block of Northwest Highway. The male was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The victim, 33-year-old Francisco Javier Pasillas, was traveling with his wife in a white Cadillac Escalade southbound on Centerville Road toward Northwest Highway.

It is believed that the victim and a driver from a truck were engaged in a dispute while traveling on Centerville Road.  When they approached the intersection of Northwest Highway someone from inside the truck shot several rounds towards the Escalade and struck Pasillas.

During the investigation, the suspect voluntarily came to the Garland Police Department and is currently being interviewed by detectives.

The investigation is ongoing.  Information will be released as it becomes available.
