Nov. 3, 2024

On Saturday, Nov. 2, just before 11:30 p.m., Garland Police Department officers responded to the 3200 block of West Buckingham Road regarding a weapons disturbance.

First responders arrived on the scene and located a male subject who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in an apartment complex parking lot. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased from his injuries.

GPD patrol officers immediately began gathering the details of what had occurred. A K9 officer assisted during the investigation. The K9 led police officers to the suspect, who fled the area on foot. The 16-year-old suspect, a student of Sachse High School, was located and arrested for murder.

The arrested suspect is currently being held in the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center. The identity of the 21-year-old male victim of Richardson is not being released at this time, pending next-of-kin notifications.

Investigators have determined this was not a random act of violence. However, GPD continues to investigate to determine exactly what took place.

If anyone has information regarding this shooting, they are urged to call the Garland Police Department at 972-485-4840.
