Update: Two subjects arrested

The Garland Police Department has two subjects in custody from the shooting that occurred yesterday.

Detectives believe two of the subjects, 17-year-old, Ja Ray Malik Hollywood and a 16-year-old male juvenile, shot the handguns, striking two female victims, a 14-year-old and a 25-year-old. The victims suffered gunshot wounds to their lower extremities and are expected to recover. Both Hollywood and the 16-year-old juvenile were taken into custody Sept. 18. Hollywood and the juvenile are charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon each. Both are in the Garland Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing and detectives are trying to determine the identity of the third subject involved.

Sept. 17, just before 3:30 pm, Garland Police responded to the report of numerous people fighting in the 3700 block of Easton Meadows. A caller stated someone produced a gun and began firing.

Upon arrival, officers observed two victims suffering from gunshot wounds to their lower extremities, a 14-year-old and 25-year-old, both African American females. Garland paramedics transported the females to different hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Officers learned a third person was injured by unknown means during the shooting, was treated, and released at the scene.
