GPD investigates stabbing

The Garland Police Department is investigating the stabbing death of a 46-year-old Garland man. On July 19, at approximately 3:15 a.m., GPD dispatch received a 911 call from an apartment community in the 1800 block of Apollo Road. The female caller, later identified as a 19-year-old resident, stated that she was attacked by her mother’s boyfriend. The caller said she stabbed her mother’s boyfriend in self-defense as he attacked her and other family members.

Garland police officers responded to the location and discovered that the male subject was no longer present. He left before the police officers’ arrival. It was later discovered that the male subject was transported to a hospital where he died from his injury.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses who were present during the incident to corroborate the events that unfolded. The female is cooperating with detectives and no arrests have been made at this time. GPD detectives are investigating the claims self-defense claims.

The male victim was identified as 46-year-old Tyrone Moody Henderson.

The involved female is not being identified as this is an ongoing investigation.
