Sep. 9, 2018

There were 22 Driving While Intoxicated arrests made during the 18 days of increased patrols for the Labor Day holiday. The Garland Police Department had stepped up its DWI patrols from Aug. 17 through Sept. 3 in an effort to keep Garland citizens and visitors safe during the holiday weekend.

The additional enforcement resulted in seven DWI related arrests and one additional arrest for another offense.  During the same period the city’s regular patrols made an additional 15 DWI arrests bring the total to 22 impaired driver related arrests.

The additional enforcement was paid for by the state funded grant from TXDOT known as the Impaired Driving Mobilization Grant.

The Garland Police Department would like to thank TXDOT for its assistance in allowing officers to keep the city streets safe during the Labor Day holiday.
