On Wednesday, Nov. 29, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Garland Police Department (GPD) responded to a concern for welfare call in the 1800 block of Vine Drive. A male caller advised that he had just killed his wife and that he was going to kill himself.
Officers arrived on the scene, made entry into the residence and found a male with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. They also found a female with multiple apparent gunshot wounds in a separate room. Both subjects were pronounced deceased at the scene by Garland Fire Department paramedics.
The victim has been identified as 66-year-old Kim Phi Nguyen. The male subject is identified as 65-year-old Luat Nguyen.
A preliminary investigation and evidence found at the scene led GPD detectives to believe that Luat Nguyen shot and killed his wife, Kim Phi Nguyen, and then turned the gun on himself.
Detectives are waiting for an official cause of death from the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office.
