The Garland Police Department has arrested two suspects in connection to the death of an individual on Nov. 11. The arrests include 20-year-old Haley Barber and 20-year-old Leo Moore, both residents of Mesquite.

On Nov. 11, at approximately 1 a.m., Garland Police officers responded to the report of a deceased individual inside a condominium in the 4500 block of Chaha Road. Upon arrival, officers observed evidence indicating foul play and discovered a deceased male victim, later identified as 53-year-old Johnny Mac Ross Jr., inside the residence.gpd

The preliminary investigation indicates the victim sustained fatal injuries due to a knife wound.

Investigators also discovered that one of the victim’s vehicles, a 2001 Mercedes, had been stolen from the residence. At approximately 1:00 p.m. on Nov. 11, Garland officers located the stolen vehicle traveling on Miller Road near LBJ Freeway. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects, Haley Barber and Leo Moore, fled and led them in a brief vehicle pursuit before stopping and fleeing on foot.

Both suspects were apprehended.

Detectives have since gathered additional evidence identifying Barber and Moore as the individuals responsible for Ross’s death. Evidence indicates that both suspects knew the victim, although the details of the dispute are still under investigation.

Both are currently in custody at the Garland Detention Center on charges of Capital Murder, with no bond set.

The investigation remains active.
