GPD says ‘Be careful who you allow in your home’

Aug. 14, 2020

The Garland Police Department (GPD) is reminding citizens to be careful of who they allow inside their home.

There have been several instances in which suspect(s) claim to work for a city department or utility company investigating a water or gas issue. While inside the home, the suspect(s) steal cash or jewelry. No one has been injured.

Garland police officers want to remind residents that if someone knocks on their door, do NOT let them in unless you have scheduled their visit. All utility company or city department employees will wear distinct uniforms, ID badges and drive identifiable vehicles.

GPD is asking all residents to be aware and to contact the proper agency for verification before letting anyone inside their home.
