GPD seeks public’s help in murder investigation

The Garland Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the driver and vehicle used in the death of a man. Monday, May 18, just before 7 a.m., GPD officers responded to a call of a deceased man, later identified as 31-year-old Charlie Williams III, in an open field within the 600 block of Stroud Lane.

 

Based on the investigation, detectives learned Williams was in the field near an alley between Stroud Lane and Grinnell Drive around midnight. Detectives recovered video showing a truck travel southeast through the alley, enter the grass field, strike Williams and then flee the area.

 

Williams’ death is being investigated as a murder.

 

Detectives believe there may be damage to the front of the truck and are urging anyone in the area who has video surveillance cameras to review them between the hours of 11:30 p.m on Sunday, May 17 to 12:30 a.m. Monday, May 18.

A reward of up to $5,000 has been offered by Garland Crimes Stoppers for information leading to an arrest or grand jury indictment.
