GP&L receives reliability recognition

Sep. 21, 2019

GP&L is a Reliable Public Power Provider, a national designation presented by the American Public Power Association to utilities that demonstrate proficiency in reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement. Of the country’s more than 2,000 public power utilities, only 219 hold this title.

Supporting this recognition are GP&L’s reliability scores, which beat national averages. On average, GP&L reports .3 interruptions annually per customer and an outage duration of only 16 minutes. Nationally, these scores average .9 interruptions per customer and 63 minutes per length of outage.

GP&L employees work around the clock to ensure customers have the power they need. The utility is proactive in upgrading substations, construction new electric lines and maintaining existing lines.
