Don’t miss GSM’s ‘The Music Man’

Jun. 20, 2023

The Music Man has long been a favorite musical of many theater-goers. But just wait until you see Garland Summer Musicals’ production of the well-loved show. Please accept my apologies for the abundance of complimentary adjectives, but this production really is that good. There’s no other way to describe it!

The production is directed by Michael Serrecchia, and Patty Granville is the producer. The sets, which are beautiful, were designed by Rodney Dobbs. The orchestra, directed by Jeff Crouse, provides rousing versions of the beloved songs. The choreography by Megan Kelly Bates is energetic and lively.

The acting, singing and dancing by the entire cast is superb.

manJason Craig West and Emily Dye shine in the roles of Harold Hill and Marian Paroo.

West is happy to be in this production with his children Haven and Jenna West.

Dye, who starred in GSM’s production of Legally Blonde in 2022, is glad to be back with Garland Summer Musicals.

In addition, a family tradition is being carried on through Karla Pajot, who is props assistant, Kim Pajot Nurmi, one of the River City Townspeople and Vivian Kennedy Nurmi, who is a part of the Children’s Ensemble. Karla worked props when her young daughter, Kim, was in GSM’s 1986 production of The Music Man. In the 2023 version, Karla is again working props and Kim’s 5-year-old daughter, Vivian, is in the production along with her mom.
