High school football – Week 6

The high school football season reached its sixth week, and the results in the District 9-6A games are below.

The Rowlett Eagles lost to the Wylie Pirates by a score of 42-0 Thursday, Oct. 10. The Eagles’ quarterback Samuel Loera ended the game at 11-27 for 101 yards. Jalen Thomas had seven catches for 74 yards. However, the Eagles were unable score against the Pirates’ defense.

The Naaman Forest Rangers got a 27-3 win over the Lakeview Centennial Patriots Friday, Oct. 11. The Rangers’ QB De’Angelo Perales completed 10 of 18 pass attempts for 153 yards and a touchdown that was caught by Corey Thomas. Perales also carried the ball 16 times for 144 yards. Derrick Obi added two rushing TDs, and the Rangers’ defense returned a fumble recovery for a score. The defense also got a safety.

The Patriots’ kicker Chris Ortis hit a 27-yard field goal, and QB Kendrick Sanders threw for 215 yards and rushed for 47.

The Sachse Mustangs defeated the North Garland Raiders 63-7 Friday, Oct. 11. Sachse High School quarterback Dirk Williams completed 14 of 19 pass attempts for 301 yards and five touchdowns. Kaliq Lockett caught two of the TD passes, and Santana Quinn caught one. Braedyn Watkins and Josh Ridge also caught TD throws. Keandra Little rushed for 166 yards on nine carries and a score. Brendon Haygood had nine carries for 69 yards and two touchdowns. Josh Ridge also rushed for a score. The coaching staff gave special recognition to the following players:

  • Offensive lineman – Brett Hough
  • Offensive skill – Keandrae Little, Josh Ridge
  • Offensive MVP – Dirk Williams
  • Defensive front 7 – Nicco Wards, Sean Davault
  • Defensive skill – Jackson King, Aidan Sharp
  • Defensive MVP – Vashon Brunswick
  • Special teams – Cory Taylor, Jackson Schmidt

The Raiders’ score came on a throw from quarterback Christian Hampton to Juju Minor. Hampton threw for 188 yards.

The South Garland Titans were defeated by the Wylie East Raiders Friday, Oct. 11. The score was 77-7. Santiago Moreno rushed for the Titans’ TD.
