High school football: Week 7 recap

Week 7 of the high school football season ended in wins for the Sachse Mustangs, Lakeview Centennial Patriots and Naaman Forest Rangers.

 

Mustangs get win over Raiders

 

The Sachse Mustangs (4-3, 3-0) got a 42-9 win over the North Garland Raiders (4-3, 1-3) Thursday, Oct. 18 at Garland’s Williams Stadium.

 

Charles Washington, Trent Dean and Chase Cromer scored for the Mustangs on passes from quarterback Derrick Rose. Myles Nash and Rose scored rushing touchdowns. Braylen Brooks on the SHS defense scored on a 13-yard interception return.

Rose ended the game at 10-13 for 214 yards. Myles Nash carried the ball 16 times for 93 yards.

 

Raiders’ quarterback Peyton Farrington was 9-29 on the night with 202 yards. Duke Parker collected 123 yards on three pass receptions and scored at TD.

 

LCHS Patriots defeat GHS Owls

 

The Lakeview Centennial Patriots (4-2, 2-2) defeated the Garland Owls (1-6, 0-4) Friday, Oct. 19 at Williams Stadium. The score was 31-3.

 

The Patriots’ punt return team scored their first TD on a 65-yard return early in the first quarter.

 

Quarterback Jermaine Johnson got the second score for LCHS on a 39-yard run in the third quarter. Johnson also hit Camar Wheaton on a 49-yard pass for a score in the third. Isaiah Haro took the ball into the end zone on a 5-yard run for a score with less than two minutes left in the

game. Jason Sauceda added a 35-yard field goal to the Patriots’ point total.

 

The Patriots’ defense held the Owls to three points scored on a 34-yard field goal by James Cassidy. Montana Miller carried the ball 18 times for 100 yards for GHS.

 

Rangers get 45-20 win over Colonels

 

The Naaman Forest Rangers (2-5, 2-2) defeated the South Garland Colonels (2-5, 0-4) by a score of 45-20 Friday, October 19, at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.

 

Ja’Hari Lee scored twice for the Patriots on 6- and 10-yard runs. Lemuel Adams got TDs on a 46-yard run as well as on a 30-yard pass reception from QB Palmer Campbell. Campbell also scored a touchdown on a 2-yard run. Francisco Castillo added a 27-yard field goal.

 

Colonels’ QB Jaquarion Turner scored all the SGHS TDs. He carried the ball 29 times and collected 188 rushing yards.

 

Wylie HS defeats Rowlett HS

 

The Rowlett Eagles (5-1, 3-1) were defeated by the Wylie Pirates (3-4, 3-1) Friday, Oct. 19 at Wylie ISD Stadium. The score was 42-28.

 

The Eagles scored in the second on a 1-yard run by Chauncey Amos and again on a 28-yard pass from QB Chase Toupal to Jerry Evans. They also scored twice in the fourth quarter. Toupal carried the ball 10-yards into the end zone for a TD and then hit Antonio Hull on a 21-yard TD pass.

 

Toupal finished the game at 15-33 with 284 passing yards and rushed for 83 yards on six carries. Hull caught seven passes for 182 yards.
