The Garland Police Department increased Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) patrols from Dec. 22 through Jan. 2 in an effort to keep Garland roadways safe during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Officers made 15 DWI arrests during the 12 day time period. Two of the DWI arrests were crash related but neither involved injuries.
The additional patrols were funded by the Impaired Driver Mobilization grant that is sponsored by TXDOT. The grant’s aim is to enforce DWI laws for all drivers with a special emphasis on Driving under the Influence by Minors.
