Homicide suspect found deceased

This evening, Garland Police Department homicide detectives developed probable cause to believe Wesley Don-Johle, 58, of Rowlett, was involved in the homicide that occurred earlier this morning, Feb. 16, at 5513 Broadway Blvd. Members of the Garland SWAT unit served a felony warrant at Johle’s Rowlett home and discovered him deceased inside the house. The cause of death appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Garland police detectives identified the victim in the homicide as James Owen Kencheloe, 40, of Mesquite. Wesley Don-Johle an employee of the bike shop, and the victim, James Kencheloe, worked together at the listed location.

At this time, Garland detectives are not searching for anyone else involved in this incident. The investigation is ongoing.

Murder victim found at Garland’s Bike World

On Feb. 16, 2023, at approximately 9:06 a.m. Garland police officers responded to 5513 Broadway Blvd., Don Johle’s Bike World. The caller, identified as an employee, stated that he arrived to open the business and discovered the doors were locked, but the internal metal gates were left open, causing him concern. There were no signs of forced entry.

Garland Police Department officers entered the business and found a deceased male subject inside, who was identified as another employee.

Garland PD detectives arrived on the scene and started their preliminary investigation. Detectives are investigating this death as a homicide.

This is an ongoing investigation. The department will release additional information when available.
