Hope Clinic director to receive NANBPWC award

The NANBPWC will honor Tanya Downing, executive director of Hope Clinic of Garland, as the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc.’s Businesswoman of the Year. The presentation will take place at the club’s annual Founder’s Day and Scholarship and Awards Luncheon. The celebration is April 6 at 11 a.m. at the Hyatt Place, 5101 North George Bush Highway in Garland. Tickets are $50. Purchase tickets by Zelle to garlandbpwclub@gmail.com.

Downing, who began work at Hope Clinic in 2022, is the perfect selection for this award. She came to Hope Clinic with a background in fundraising for health organizations, which has served the clinic well. She has also served on a variety of organizations’ boards.

In a previous interview, Downing told The Garland Texan that she is a servant leader at heart and added that she loves the Lord. She’s happy to be where she can help others, especially those that look like her.

“I’m all about diversity…This job fits with my personal desire to help…We’re doing amazing things here,” she said.

About Hope Clinic of Garland: The nonprofit clinic has partnered with the community since 2002 to provide free, medical and preventative health care to uninsured adults.
