Local community agencies make announcements regarding services

Mar. 25, 2020

Local community service agencies, Hope Clinic and Hope’s Door New Beginning Center recently announced plans and/or changes and cancellations because of COVID-19 pandemic.

Hope Clinic cancels events, prepares for future medical needs

While our trust is always in the Lord’s mercy and protection, we want to join with our city of Garland and our local businesses to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. In light of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidance, Hope Clinic is rescheduling our Celebration of Hope to August 2020 and our Wheels of Hope to the Fall of 2020.

During these stressful times, we will be earnestly praying for your health and well-being.  We also ask that you continue to pray for our many patients who will be impacted by business closures and shortages of needed services.

At Hope Clinic, we are doing everything we can to prepare for the additional medical needs of our patients.

We look forward to seeing you at our rescheduled Hope Clinic events where we will uplift God’s grace and love for all.

Hope’s Door New Beginning Center’s shelters open, counseling continuing online

Hope’s Door New Beginning Center is committed to the safety and well-being of those we serve, our staff, our volunteers, and the community at large. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, HDNBC has transitioned to providing victim services via online or virtual access effective through Friday, April 10.

Hope’s Door New Beginning Center Emergency Shelters remain open for victims of domestic violence.

“In an effort to allow our staff and volunteers to safely work remotely while continuing to serve survivors, all victim services available at the outreach centers in Plano and Garland have been transitioned to virtual services,” said CEO Christina Coultas. “Our emergency shelters continue to be open and staffed.”

The Resale Store is currently closed for business and donations. Urgent needs, in addition to food and financial donations, are laundry soap, hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies.

“We know that during this time there is potential for increased domestic abuse and we continue to be available for counseling, advocacy and continued safety planning.  As always, our 24/7 crisis hotline is available at 972-276-0057,” Coultas stated.

The Catalyst Awards Luncheon, scheduled for April, has been canceled. The agency has pivoted to a social media campaign to help financially fill the gap from the canceled event. To make a financial donation please visit www.hdnbc.org/catalyst
