Football recap: Dec. 3-4

Results for the last games of the regular season played Dec. 3 and 4, are below, along with information on which football teams advanced to the bi-district playoff round and game details.

Rangers get 28-7 win over Mustangs

Ja’Hari Lee scored a rushing touchdown and backup quarterback Francisco Beltran connected with Aden Gonzalez on a long throw for a touchdown.

Kingsley Bennett had a 57-yard punt return for the Rangers that set up a second TD for Lee. Additionally, the NFHS defense scored when Jaden Flores returned an interception 69 yards to the goal line.

QB Alex Orji scored for the Mustangs on a 7-yard run. The SHS coaches named Jagger Roland Offensive Player of the Game and Albion Krasniqi Defensive Player of the Game. Special Teams Player of the Game was Kevin Sotelo.

Eagles get win over Frisco Memorial HS

The Rowlett Eagles defeated Frisco Memorial High School by a final score of 20-14. Quarterback Tre Carr completed a pass to Caleb Stiggers-Blair for a touchdown and Colton Yarbrough scored a rushing TD. On defense, JaCory Brown got an interception that led to an Eagles’ TD. The Eagles also added two field goals.

Carr ended the game at 20-27 with 214 yards. He also carried the football 28 times for 106 yards.

Owls get 34-27 win over Colonels

GHS quarterback Cergio Perez threw for 224 yards and connected with Jordan Hudson for a score

in the game against SGHS. Jayshon Powers and Damerian Wigenton each scored two TDs for the Owls.

Hudson caught six passes for 113 yards on the game. Powers rushed for 177 yards on 13 carries. Wigenton had 13 carries for 85 yards.

Colonels’ quarterback Jalil Brown had a good night with seven pass completions for 210 yards and two touchdowns. He connected with Tyreon Key and Dayvaun Gilmore for the scores. Brown also had a rushing TD. Jaylien Chambers also ran for a score.

Chambers carried the ball 15 times for 95 yards. Brown rushed 27 times for 94 yards. Key caught three passes for 110 yards.

The North Garland Raiders and Wylie HS football game was canceled

  • Mustangs play Skyline High School Friday, Dec. 11, at Homer B. Johnson Stadium at 7 p.m.
  • Wylie Pirates will play Rockwall High School Thursday, Dec. 10, at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium in Rockwall at 7 p.m.

Division II – Region II

  • Naaman Forest plays Tyler Legacy High School Saturday, Dec. 12, at Williams Stadium at 2 p.m.
  • Owls will play Rockwall-Heath High School at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium in Rockwall Friday, Dec.11 at 7 p.m.
