Eagles get win over Owls

The Rowlett Eagles (9-1, 5-1) got a 48-6 win over the Garland Owls (3-7, 2-4) Thursday, Nov. 3 at Garland Homer B. Johnson Stadium. Monyae Lang scored three times for the Eagles. He scored on a 3-yard run and a 22-yard pass reception from quarterback Preston Weeks in the first quarter as well as on a 12-yard run in the second quarter. Donald Dobson also caught a 50-yard pass from Weeks for a TD in the first quarter. Luis Reyna and Josh Aldana scored 35- and 33-yard field goals for the Eagles in the second quarter and Chauncey Amos scored on a 7-yard run.

In the third quarter, Garret Hermes got a TD on a 2-yard run to bring the score to 48-0.

Weeks finished the game at 10-18 and 193 yards.

The Owls score came on a 62-yard pass reception from quarterback Joshua Brown to Josh Thompson in the first quarter. Brown was 11-24 with 162 yards on the game. Thompson caught six passes for 99 yards.ghs-rhs-slideshow-mclendon

The Eagles will compete against Coppell High School in the bi-district round of the playoffs Saturday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. at Buddy Echols Field.

SHS defeats SGHS

The undefeated Sachse Mustangs (10-0, 6-0) got a victory against the South Garland Colonels (0-10, 0-6) Friday, Nov. 4 at Homer B. Johnson. The final score was 57-0.

SHS scored early in the first half on a 2-yard run by Christian Cole. Quarterback Jalen Mayden got a TD on a 15-yard run in the first and Nate

Shelton scored on a 68-yard run. The score at the end of the first quarter was 21-0.

In the second, Kelon Wilson and Chris Washington got rushing TDs and Cole scored again on a 39-yard run.

Alex Williams scored in the third quarter, and in the fourth Trent Dean got a TD on a 41-yard run.rhs-ghs-football-mathis

The defense got two points for the Mustangs on a safety in the second quarter.

Mayden ended the game at 9-16 with 97 yards. Alex Williams, also in at quarterback for the Mustangs, was 3-3 for 19 yards.

The Colonels were unable to score against the Mustangs’ defense.

The Mustangs will face Skyline High School in the bi-district round of the playoffs Friday, Nov. 11 at Williams Stadium.

Patriots over Rangers

The Naaman Forest Rangers (5-5, 3-3) were defeated by the Lakeview Centennial Patriots (7-3, 4-2) by a score of 23-17 at Garland’s Williams Stadium Friday, Nov. 4.

The Patriots got the first score on an 11-yard pass from quarterback Kamron Fields to Shamond Greenwood in the first quarter. Edgar Davila added a 30-yard field goal in the second quarter. Fields had a 9-yard TD run in the third quarter and a 15-yard run for a score in the fourth.

Fields finished the night at 12-16 with 104 yards. Allen Copeland carried the ball 17 times for 137 yards. Greenwood had eight catches for 80 yards.Nov.

Cameron Willis got a TD on a 2-yard run in the first quarter for the Rangers’ first score. Julian Ramirez added a 25-yard field goal in the third quarter and Willis scored again on a 29-yard run in the fourth quarter.

The Patriots will meet Lake Highlands High School in the bi-district playoff round Friday, Nov. 11 at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.

The Rangers will play Jesuit High School in the bi-district round Friday, Nov. 11 at Postell Stadium.
