HS football recap: Week 3

High school football district play started Thursday, Sept. 7, and the results for district 9-6A, which includes the Garland ISD high schools as well as Wylie and Wylie East high schools are below.

Sachse Mustangs 31 – Lakeview Centennial Patriots 7

The Sacshe Mustangs (1-2, 1-0) ended the game with 458 yards of offense, 388 in the air and 70 yards rushing. Quarterback Brenden George completed 17 of 24 pass attempts, which included on 94-yard-long throw caught by Kaliq Lockett. Lockett caught six passes for 227 yards and two TDs. George also connected with Kendrick Hanks for a TD Josh Ridge also scored on a run for SHS.

Mustangs’ coaches named Brenden George offensive MVP and Sean Davault defensive MVP. They also recognized Alex Alvarado, Aidan Sharp and Chase Thomas on special teams.

Lakeview Centennial Patriots’ (2-1, 0-1) QB Kendrick Sanders finished the game a 11-22 with 99 and one TD throw to Trenton Harris who caught six passes for 73 yards.

Garland Owls 41 – North Garland Raiders 7

The Garland Owls (2-1, 1-0) defeated the Raiders on a high-scoring game Friday, Sept. 8. They ended the game with 413 total yards, 243 in the air and 170 on the ground. Owls’ QB Orlando Routt completed 15 of 23 attempts with 243 yards in two TDs. Keylon Davis and Jonah Hernandez each caught touchdown throws. Jayden Norwood ran the ball six times for 88 yards and two scores. De’Adrian Hardy ran for 118 yards in 13 carries and one touchdown.

North Garland Raiders’ (0-3, 0-1) QB Kameron Shaw completed four passes for 78 yards and a TD. JaChristian Eason had two catches for 45 yards, including the TD catch.

Wylie HS 49 – South Garland Titans 0

The South Garland Titans (1-2, 1-0) were unable to score against the Wylie Pirates’ (2-1, 1-0) defense. The Pirates’ QB Jagger Bale had a perfect passing game with nine completions of nine attempts.

Rowlett Eagles 33 – Naaman Forest Rangers 13

The Rowlett Eagles (1-2, 1-0) game against the Naaman Forest Rangers (0-3, 0-1) was postponed Friday night because of lightning in the area. The game was completed Saturday, Sept. 9. Eagles’ quarterback Andrew Ellison completed 17-23 passes with 255 yards. He also threw three TD passes, one was caught by Cordell Lee, and Jalen Thomas caught two. Rodney Gore got 98 yards on five catches. Ger’Myius Benson and Devin Gray each contributed rushing TDs.

Rangers’ QB Deangelo Perales ended the game at 27-47 for 251 yards and one TD, which was caught by Chance Ables. Taylor Green got a rushing touchdown.
