HS football recap: Week 9

Week nine of the high school football season is in the books with wins for Naaman Forest, Sachse, Rowlett and Wylie.

 

Rangers get win over Owls

 

The Naaman Forest Rangers got a 36-7 win over the Garland Owls Thursday, Nov. 1 at Williams Stadium. Lemuel Adams scored first for the Rangers on a 34-yard pass reception from QB Palmer Campbell. Daviciea McCartney scored a in the second quarter on a 24-yard catch from Campbell.

In the third quarter, Durin Negron got a TD on a 2-yard run, and in the fourth quarter, Jordan Flores caught a 31-yard pass from Campbell for a score. The Rangers also got two points on a safety when an NGHS stepped outside the end zone and kicker Francis Castillo added two field goals, 22- and 23-yarders.

 

Campbell ended the game at 5-8 with 162 yards. Adams had three catches for 107 yards.

 

The Garland Owls scored on a 20-yard pass from QB Jacob Herrera to Alonzo Fennel.

 

Sachse HS defeats South Garland HS

 

The Sachse Mustangs (6-3, 6-0) got a 55-0 victory over the South Garland Colonels (2-7, 0-6) Friday, Nov. 2 at Williams Stadium.

 

Myles Nash had three Sachse TDs on 10-, 3- and 11-yard runs. Torey Washington added a score on a 10-yard run. KJ Williams scored on a 6-yard rush in the second quarter and on a 20-yard run in the third. Marshall Frost scored on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter.

 

QB Anthony Beltran connected with Trent Dean on an impressive 70-yard pass in the third quarter. Williams carried the ball seven times for 91 yards.

 

The South Garland offense was unable to score against the Mustang defense.

Eagles get victory over Patriots

 

The Rowlett Eagles (7-1, 5-1) defeated the Lakeview Centennial Patriots (4-4, 2-4) Friday, Nov. 2 at Homer B. Johnson by a score of 24-7.

 

Eagles’ quarterback Chase Toupal scored in the first quarter on a 2-yard run and in the second, Luis Reyna added a 32-yard field goal. In the third quarter, Toupal connected with Antonio Hull on a 26-yard pass for a TD and on a spectacular 71-yard pass to Jerry Evans.

 

Toupal was 9-22 on the game with 187 yards. Chauncey Adams carried the ball 20 times for 126 yards on the night. Evans caught four Toupal passes for 105 yards.

 

Jermaine Johnson scored for the Patriots on a 1-yard run. Johnson was 8-22 on the night with 116 yards. Camar Wheaton had 16 carries for 108 yards.

 

Wylie Pirates get heartbreaker win over North Garland Raiders

 

The Wylie Pirates (4-5, 4-1) defeated the North Garland Raiders (5-4, 1-4) Friday, Nov. 2 at Wylie ISD stadium when they took the lead with less than a minute left in the game.

 

The Raiders had a 12-10 lead on two Peyton Farrington TD passes. a 52-yarder to Kerrington Henson and a 24-yarder to Duke Parker. But the Pirates took an 18-12 lead late in the fourth quarter. Farrington had a great night at 18-31 for 232 yards.
