Week 11, the last week of regular district play for the HS football season, ended in wins for the District 9-6A Rowlett Eagles, Sachse Mustangs, Lakeview Centennial Patriots and Wylie Pirates.
Eagles defeat district champs Wylie East HS
The Rowlett Eagles (4-6, 4-4) handed the Wylie East Raiders (9-1, 7-1) their only loss of the regular season Thursday, Nov. 3. The final score was 35-28. Eagles’ quarterback Andrew Ellison passed for 171 yards and three touchdowns. Corey Kirkling caught two of the TD passes and had seven receptions for 103 yards on the night. Trey Long caught the third touchdown throw. GerMyius Benson added two rushing scores and carried the ball 14 times for 93 yards.
Mustangs get win over Raiders
The Sachse Mustangs (4-6, 4-4) got a big win over the North Garland Raiders (3-7, 2-6) Thursday, Nov. 3. The score was 63-21. SHS quarterback Brenden George and Victor Jesus Gutierrez both had amazing games with 100% completion rates. George passed for 245 yards and three touchdowns. Gutierrez threw for 82 yards and two TDs. George also rushed for 64 yards and a score. Jhett Creel, Grayson King and Caden Calkins each caught two TD passes and Robbie Rothrock caught one. Khalyse Harris, Brendon Haygood and Pope Akanna also added rushing TDs. The Mustangs collected a total of 586 offensive yards.
Raiders’ QB Kameron Shaw ended the game at 9-17 with 150 yards and two touchdowns. Both were caught by Mateo Howard who had four catches for 107 yards. Howard also scored a rushing TD.
Garland Owls lose to Wylie Pirates
The Garland Owls (5-5, 4-4) were defeated by the Wylie Pirates (7-3, 6-2) Friday, Nov. 4 by a final score of 28-10. The Owls’ quarterback Jayden Norwood rushed for the only GHS touchdown. The Owls added a 27-yard field goal late in the second quarter.
Patriots defeat Rangers
The Lakeview Centennial Patriots got a 27-13 win over the Naaman Forest Rangers (5-5, 5-3) Friday, Nov. 4. The Patriots collected 463 yards of offense, 254 in the air and 209 on the ground. LCHS quarterback Kendrick Sanders ended the night at 20-38 with 248 yards and a completed TD pass to Julius Spencer. Spencer had 11 catches for 146 yards. Savion Hunter and Jack Dustin added rushing touchdowns. Hunter had two carries for 76 yards. The Patriots also added 31- and 28-yard field goals.
The Rangers’ quarterback Deangelo Perales was 12-29 on the night with 104 yards and a touchdown. Hayden Denton caught the TD pass. Isaiah Cunning added a rushing TD and had 24 carries for 153 yards.
