HS football Week 11: Last week of regular season

In this last week of the regular high school football season, Sachse HS, Wylie HS, Naaman Forest HS and Lakeview Centennial HS earned playoff spots.

 

Raiders get 50-23 win over Owls

 

The North Garland Raiders (6-4, 3-4) defeated the Garland Owls (3-7, 1-6) Thursday, Nov. 7, at Williams Stadium.

 

The Raiders scored first on a 38-yard pass from quarterback Timothy Gauthier to Alex Garcia early in the first quarter. Early in the second quarter, Sabron Woods got the first of five TDs on a 7-yard run. He scored again in the second quarter on a 1-yard run and in the third quarter on 7- and 3-yard runs. Woods added another score in the fourth quarter on a 2-yard run.

 

Gauthier ended the game at 7-14 for 147 yards and rushed nine times for 114 yards. Woods had 24 carries for 121 yards. Duke Parker had four catches for 85 yards.

The Owls scored in the first quarter on a 14-yard run by Trey Alexander and again in the second on a 34-pass from Cergio Perez to Jabari Ellis. James Cassidy added a 25-yard field goal in the third quarter and Perez connected with Jordan Hudson on an 82-yard pass in the fourth quarter.

 

Perez was 21-38 on the game with 249 yards. Hudson had four catches for 93 yards.

 

Mustangs defeat Eagles

 

The Sachse Mustangs (8-2, 6-1) got a 42-40 win over the Rowlett Eagles (4-6, 4-3) to eliminate the Eagles from playoff contention Friday, Nov. 8 at Williams Stadium.

 

The Mustangs’ Shon Coleman scored three touchdowns on 2-, 8- and 49-yard runs. Xavier Forman scored twice on short runs for the Mustangs. Addison Perez added a 24-yard field goal and the defense provided four points on two safeties.

 

Forman was 7-15 on the night with 93 yards. Coleman carried the ball 16 times for 179 yards.

Colton Yarborough started the scoring for the Eagles on a 49-yard run and scored again in the third quarter on a 9-yard run. Tre’von King also scored two RHS touchdowns, first on a 45-yard pass from Tre Carr then on a 5-yard run in the fourth. D’Wonyae Newton got a score for the Eagles on a 5-yard run in the fourth quarter. Tre Carr also scored in the fourth quarter on a 5-yard run.

 

Carr ended the game at 19-24 with 240 yards and rushed for 77 yards. King caught 12 passes for 177 yards.

 

The Sachse coaches recognized Xavier Forman as Offensive MVP. Defensive MVP was Jordan Brooks. James Boyd on special teams was also recognized.

 

South Garland HS loses to Wylie HS

 

The South Garland Colonels (1-9, 0-7) were defeated by the Wylie Pirates (6-4, 6-1) by a score of 29-9 at Wylie ISD Stadium Friday, Nov. 8.

 

Giovanni Serrano scored first for the Colonels on a 39-yard field goal. In the fourth quarter, Demarcus Duncan caught a Jalil Brown 27-yard pass for a TD.

 

Brown threw for 104 yards and ended the night at 9-20. He also rushed for 100 yards.

 

Rangers get 42-27 win over Patriots

 

The Naaman Forest Rangers came from behind to clinch a playoff spot and defeat the Lakeview Centennial Patriots Friday, Nov. 8, at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.

 

Kingsley Bennett scored two TDs in the first half, first on a 4-yard run then on a 6-yard fumble return, but the Rangers trailed the Patriots 20-14 at halftime. In the third quarter, Bennett got two more TDs, first on a 14-yard run and then a 7-yard pass reception from QB Jayden Flores.

 

The defense scored in the third quarter, first on a 6-yard fumble return by Bennett, the twice in the fourth on interceptions by Izzy Reyna and Adrian Brown.

 

Bennett carried the ball 21 times for 93 yards.

 

The Patriots scored three touchdowns in the first half. Quarterback Jarret Adams scored on a 6-yard run and Cambryn James scored on an 18-yard pass reception from Adams. Ikechukwu Iwunnah scored in the second quarter on a 62-yard fumble return. In the fourth, Jalen Davis got a TD on a 16-yard pass reception from Adams.

 

Adams was 12-21 on the night with 133 yards. Camar Wheaton had 31 carries for 123 yards. Davis collected 90 yards on seven catches.
