HS football: Week 5 scores

Week five of the high school football season, District 9-6A, ended with wins for Wylie East HS, Naaman Forest HS, Sachse HS and Wylie HS. Recaps and standings are below.

Wylie East Raiders 57 – North Garland Raiders 33

The Wylie East Raiders defeated the North Garland Raiders Thursday, Sept. 26. The score was 57-33.

The NGHS Raiders’ QB, Christian Hampton ended the game at 20-37 with an impressive 364 passing yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 93 yards and a score. JaVonte Brown, Aaron Green Jr. each caught a TD pass, and Brian Johnson caught two. Samuel Williams had five catches for 129 yards.

Naaman Forest Rangers 28 – Garland Owls 7

The Rangers defeated the Owls Friday, Sept. 27 by a score of 28-7. NFHS quarterback DeAngelo Perales ended the game at 11-19 for 125 yards. He also scored a rushing TD. Dylan Jones and Ali Vinson also had rushing scores. The defense also scored for NFHS on a fumble return.

The Owls scored on a blocked punt return. QB Carlos Mojica threw for 118 yards.

Sachse Mustangs 35 – Lakeview Centennial Patriots 7

The Sachse Mustangs got a win over the Lakeview Centennial Patriots in a 35-7 game Friday, Sept. 27. The SHS quarterback Dirk Williams threw for 87 yards and three TDs. Santana Quin caught two of the TD passes and Kaliq Lockett caught one. Brendon Haygood carried the ball 10 times for 161 yards and a TD. Keandrae Little also scored on a run. The SHS coaches recognized the following players:

  • Offensive lineman – Hunter Hanks
  • Offensive skill – Santana Quinn
  • Offensive MVP – Brendon Haygood
  • Defensive front 7 – Vashon Brunswick and Sean Devault
  • Defensive skill – Aidan Sharp and CJ Wells
  • Defensive MVP – Corey Walls
  • Special teams – Aidan Sharp

The Patriots’ quarterback Kendrick Sanders threw for 218 yards. The score came on a Sanders rush.

Wylie Pirates 41 – South Garland Titans 14

The South Garland Titans were defeated by the Wylie Pirates by a score of 41-14 Friday, Sept. 27. SGHS quarterback Edson Rincon ended the game at 12-22 with 141 yards and a TD. Rincon also added a TD run.
