Aug. 6, 2020

Perfect Game (PG) recently announced that Garland native Hunter Bulin has been selected for the inaugural Perfect Game 12U Select Baseball Festival to be held Sunday, Aug. 30 in Marietta, Georgia.

Hunter has lived in Garland all his life and attends Garland ISD’s O’Banion Middle School. He started playing baseball at the age of 5 in the South Garland Little League and now plays for the Texas Canes of Southlake who are ranked No. 1 in the nation with a 96-0 season record. He has always loved the game of baseball.

“In my opinion, it’s the greatest game in the world. It’s a game that requires hours of hard work,” he said. “I’m thankful to my parents Gary and Nita for the many hours they take out of their days taking me to train and traveling for tournaments.”

Hunter added that he is also very grateful to his hitting and fielding coach Roberto Gallegos and pitching coaches he has had over the years, Jeff Shelton, Chris Kirksley, Willie Lopez and Chris Salerno.

“I’m also thankful for Lale Esquivel for the opportunity he has given me to play at such a high level and always trusting in my abilities,” Hunter said.

The event will showcase the talents of the top 28 age-eligible 12U players, as selected by Perfect Game staff members and Hunter is happy to have been chosen to participate.

“Being selected as one of the top 28 kids in the nation is very exciting, and I thank God first for the talent and abilities He has given me,” he said. “This year has been very special for me and my teammates going 96-0 and because of the individual awards I received this year.”

He added that being selected by Perfect Game was a dream come true and has proven to him that hard work pays off. Playing baseball has also provided the opportunity to play the game in locations including Las Vegas, Florida, hunterMississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Georgia, California and all over Texas.

This event provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the players. In the weeks before the event, players will have the opportunity to participate in a fundraising effort to help support Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (C.H.O.A.) for pediatric cancer patients and their families.

“We are thrilled to find an amazing partner in Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for the upcoming inaugural 12U Select Festival,” PG Cares Foundation Executive Director Jennifer Ford said. “We have been very invested in the Atlanta market for many years and are thrilled to support one of the largest providers of children’s healthcare in the country. Players will have the opportunity to raise critical funds to support the wonderful pediatric cancer patients and their families of C.H.O.A.”
