Interpretive panels showcase Black history

Feb. 8, 2024

This Black History Month, explore interpretive history panels recently installed on the Carver campus to share its rich history. The panels are available for viewing at 206-222 Carver St.

The three panels illustrate the community importance of George Washington Carver and the early days of Black students’ education. This history includes the G.W. Carver School, the A.L. Anders Gymnasium and Carver Multipurpose Cultural Center, as well as the Carver Senior Center.

These historical panels represent a communitywide collaboration, including the Carver Alumni Programs & Services Inc., the Garland Landmark Museum and Garland’s Parks & Recreation Department.
