Warnings

  • There have been car break-ins in the preserve parking lots. Perpetrators have broken a window and taken valuables from the car. Take valuables with you when you walk the trails.
  • There are snakes at the preserve – but they are needed to maintain ecological balance. Many are harmless and just want to be left alone. Others, like the Copperhead, are venomous. While they also just want to be left alone, a bite from a copperhead can be life-threatening and means an immediate trip to the emergency room. No humans have been bitten, but recently a dog on a long leash spotted and attacked a copperhead. The copperhead responded defensively and bit the dog, but released very little venom. After a trip to the vet, the dog is fine. Stay on the trails. Watch where you step. Keep your pet under close control.
