Summer – Spring Creek Forest Preserve activities

Jul. 7, 2024

Many activities of the Preservation Society for Spring Creek Forest are suspended during the summer months due to the heat. Listed below are a couple of events scheduled for June, July, August, as well as some fall activities so that you can mark your calendars.

An Evening with Moths & Sam K – Saturday, July 20 – 8:30 p.m. until late – 1770 Holford Drivepreserve

Sam Kieschnick, Texas Parks and Wildlife Urban Wildlife Biologist for DFW, will be on hand with all his expertise and energy. This family-friendly event honors International Moth Week. Most moths are nocturnal, so light sheets are set up to attract moths and other flying insects. Volunteers will answer questions and help with identification.

One of Sam’s favorite quotes is by Bradley Miller: “Teaching a child not to step on a caterpillar is as valuable to the child as it is to the caterpillar.”

All children must be accompanied by an appropriate number of adults. Bring water, insect repellent and a flashlight. Wear close-toed shoes!
