Karin Wiseman Collection opens in downtown Garland

Feb. 20, 2019

Garland resident Karin Wiseman recently had a long-time dream come true with the opening of Karin Wiseman Collection at 915 Main Street in downtown Garland. Wiseman and her handmade jewelry collection were already well-known to downtown shoppers as she has worked in other stores where her jewelry creations were available.

Wiseman has set up a beautiful shop with a wide variety of items. In addition to her jewelry collection, shoppers will find locally-made, one-of-a-kind gift items, home décor, hospitality items, candles and assorted vintage pieces. A selection of men’s grooming products including beard oils, shave soaps and body soaps is also available. The store’s selection includes all price points.

The work of Deborah Downes, talented, local photographer, is also featured at the store, and Monica Keepers, who previously owned a store at this location, has retained a space to offer clothing.

Wiseman said that new merchandise will be added often.

“When you walk in the door, I want you to find something you didn’t see the last time you were in,” she said.

Her hope for the shop is that it will be a meeting place for the community, a place where people want to hang out and visit.

“I hope to have people come in, sit down at the table and have a cup of coffee,” she said. “I want it to be more than just shopping. I want it to be more of an experience and like a home away from home where people feel comfortable and enjoy each other’s company.”

Monthly activities for both children and adults will be held at the store. The second Saturday of each month, will feature a special art activity for kids. During the first event, the kids had a great time creating beautiful cards. For only $5 per child, they can come in and create something to take home with them. Wiseman supplies the space and materials and gives moms, grandmothers or other caretakers the opportunity to enjoy a little time to browse and visit.

Additionally, there will be at least one event per month for adults. “Galentine’s Day” was the February event.  The current schedule includes:

Saturday, Feb. 23: Paper Flower Bouquet Class 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. $35 per person. Reservations required.
