Keller-Williams celebrates community service

Jun. 2, 2022

Garland’s Keller-Williams Lake Cities (KW) real estate office recently hosted a community service event at the new Abe J. Tuggle Animal Shelter and Adoption Center.

In recognition of Keller-Williams’ RED Day (Renew, Energize, Donate) the agents at Garland’s branch of the real estate company hosted an event that benefited several nonprofits. Every KW office ceases real estate business on the second Thursday of May to give back.

They collected food for Good Samaritans of Garland, supplies and pet food for the animal shelter. In addition, the Carter Bloodcare bus was there for those who wanted to donate blood. There were also food trucks, an ice cream vendor and raffle prizes.

The KW associates hoped to double the amount of food they collected for Good Sam at last year’s event. They were happy that they met that goal and that they collected lots of pet food and supplies. In addition, a good number of people donated blood.

Seth Mills, who has been with the company for seven years, is happy to be part of a company that has heart. “If you look at anything significant that Keller-Williams has accomplished, at the core, is the culture of sharing and of giving,” Mills said. “We’re in an industry where a salesperson can really get a bad name because of poor ethics. It’s great to see a company that encourages its people and has so much passion from all the associates.”

Ed Taffer, Bobby Wagner and Samantha Kelley, along with help from several others, worked hard to plan the event. In addition, they delivered, then picked up, about 200 food donation bags in several neighborhoods.

Mills was glad that so many people stepped up to help. In addition to the KW people, the food truck owners and vendors, Carter Bloodcare employees and animal shelter employees made sure the event was successful.

Community members, as well as many of the Keller-Williams associates, gave blood. KW agent Bobby Wagner said that for him, it was simply the right thing to do. Wagner and his wife are on the donor registry and he has even donated a kidney.keller
