Keller-Williams celebrates RED Day event

Apr. 29, 2022

Each year, the employees of Keller-Williams, a worldwide real estate company, celebrate their commitment to community service at their RED Day (Renew, Energize, Donate) event. The event is a celebration of the birthday of Mo Anderson, co-owner and vice-chair of Keller Williams.

On the second Thursday in May, instead of conducting real estate business, the employees concentrate on giving back. Each Keller-Williams office decides what service projects to conduct. The Garland office had such success with their 2021 projects, they will repeat them this year.

Garland’s Keller-Williams Lake Cities office will host a multifaceted event at the new Abe J. Tuggle Animal Shelter and Adoption Center at 1902 State Highway 66 in Garland. The free event will last from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Some of the activities include:

  • Nonperishable food collection for Good Samaritans of Garland
  • Tours of new animal shelter
  • Animal adoptions
  • Animal shelter donations (pet food, blankets, bath towels, washcloths, paper towels, hand sanitizer, pet shampoo, toys for cats and dogs, leashes, collars, stainless steel food/water bowls treats, bleach, laundry detergent, trash bags, etc.)
  • Chances to win raffle prizes
  • Carter Bloodcare donations
  • Food trucks

Attendance and donations at last year’s event were great. However, they hope to do even more this year.

“Last year, we were proud to collect 1,000 pounds of food for Good Samaritans of Garland,” KW agent Ed Taffer said. “This year our goal is to collect 2,000 pounds.”

About KW community service: At the heart of Keller Williams’ culture is our shared commitment to community service. The immeasurable generosity of our team enables us to care for our own as well as our neighbors no matter the magnitude of what is needed.

We’ve poured into our communities in a number of ways, initiating service projects like building new homes from the ground up, gathering and distributing food to those who need it, organizing relief efforts when a natural disaster hits and even spreading joy and raising funds as only KW can when life takes an unexpected turn. These are just a few of the community activities we’ve carried out in support of those who have poured into us.
