Letter to the editor: Faith and Violence

May. 16, 2018

We can ban guns, knives, clubs, and arrows, but we can’t ban evil. The human heart is the problem, and human government is powerless to correct the deficiencies of mankind. Violence against one another says a lot about what we think about ourselves. It belittles the personhood of another human being; in fact, murder is an outrage against God.

When we love God, we will truly love one another. God through His Son does change hearts. When evil men do not want anything to do with God and deprive the lives of innocent human beings, you are solely responsible for your safety (including your loved ones), not the police or any other government institution. Like one person said, “It is better to be a warrior in a garden than to be a gardener in a war.”
