Local Boy Scout raises money for Eagle Scout Project

Oct. 24, 2018

Kelton Jones has been a devoted Boy Scout for eight years. His next step is to earn the final rank of Eagle Scout, which requires him to plan and complete a project benefiting the local community. For his project, Kelton has decided to improve the facilities of the Mosaic Family Services house. To complete his project, Kelton hopes to raise $800 through RedBasket.org, a fee-free fundraising website sponsored by WoodmenLife.

Mosaic Family Services, Inc. is an organization that provide aid to victims of human trafficking and domestic abuse. For his Eagle Scout project, Kelton is constructing two to four large picnic tables. In addition, Kelton will clean up and convert an open field into an exercise and play area for mothers and their children. “This project will create a safe environment for victim families to enjoy a park setting, exercise, and play,” said Kelton.

Kelton hopes to raise $800 through RedBasket.org to purchase the materials needed to construct the picnic tables including outdoor-rated lumber, screws, bolts, and construction adhesive. Kelton’s online fundraiser is available for donations through Nov. 17.
