Man, 21, killed during robbery

Friday, Nov. 1, just after 8:30 p.m., Garland police officers responded to the report of a male who had been shot in the 500 block of Cedar Drive. When officers arrived, they observed a 21-year-old Hispanic male subject bleeding from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Officers learned the 21-year-old, later identified as Misael Alexis Romero of Garland, and his uncle had just arrived home when they were approached by four subjects who demanded money. One of them was holding a handgun and another was wielding a rifle. During the robbery a physical struggle ensued between the uncle and one of the subjects. The 21-year-old went to help and was shot in the upper torso.

 

All four subjects appeared to be males wearing dark colored clothing with their faces covered.

 

Detectives are asking that anyone who has any information regarding this shooting contact the Garland Police Department at 972-485-4840. Additionally, Garland Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading the arrest of the subjects involved in the murder.
