The National Day of Prayer has been observed in Garland for 19 years and we’re excited about getting together again after last year’s switch to a Zoom meeting. Garland NDP is a powerful point of influence in calling all citizens to pray for our leaders and to seek Godly wisdom that we might live quiet and tranquil lives by God’s grace.
Join us Thursday, May 6, at 11 a.m. at Lavon Drive Baptist Church, located at 1520 Lavon Drive in Garland. We will join with pastors, city officials, educators, business people, first responders, students, housewives, home-schoolers and others to pray in the name of Jesus on the National Day of Prayer.
When we as a people decide to remain in the power of Jesus, He will provide REST and FRUIT in our lives. Our Garland theme this year is Remain in Me based on John 15.
There will be a designated area for those who would prefer to sit exclusively near others who are masked and 6 feet apart. Others are strongly urged to observe the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

John 15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”
The National Day of Prayer Task Force seeks to:
- Foster unity within the Christian church, reaching and including ALL denominations
- Protect America’s constitutional freedom to gather, worship, pray and speak freely.
- Encourage and emphasize prayer, regardless of current issues and positions.
- Be wise stewards of God’s resources and provision. MOST IMPORTANTLY to: Glorify the Lord in word and deed.
