Reyna Reyes, a Naaman Forest High School and University of Alabama graduate, was born in Garland to Rene and Carrie Reyes. She was 6 years old when she joined the FC Dallas youth soccer system and played with the club for 12 years. She was a part of the FC Dallas’ U-16 Girls Academy team that won the 2017 ECNL National Championship.
Reyes enjoyed an impressive list of accomplishments before college, including four appearances for the senior Mexico National Team. As a youth, she was on Mexico’s 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup team. In addition, she was instrumental in Mexico reaching the final of the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay.
These accomplishments were achieved while Reyes was also part of the Naaman Forest Rangers girls’ soccer team. During her high school career, she was named First Team All-State, along with numerous other recognitions as listed below.
She committed to play soccer at the University of Alabama and played her first game with the Crimson Tide in August 2019. She started 79 games and scored 15 goals as she amassed a long list of awards and recognitions at the collegiate level.
Reyes’ hard work has now led her to the pros. On Jan. 12, she was thrilled to be drafted by the Portland Thorns of the National Women’s Soccer League. Reyes was the fifth overall pick in the 2023 NWSL draft.
