Obituary: Barbara Nell (Eaker) Stewart

Barbara Nell (Eaker) Stewart, age 74, of Garland, TX died peacefully at the home of her daughter on January 22, 2021 after a seven-year-long and valiant battle with Alzheimer’s.

Born July 1, 1946, in Little Rock, Arkansas, she was the adopted daughter of the late Walter Beadles, Jr. and Zylphia Ann (Bryant) Eaker. She attended local schools, graduated from Hall High School in 1964, and attended Little Rock University. Barbara met her husband Michael Stewart while working as a transcriptionist at Liberty Mutual Insurance. They later moved to Dallas and were married at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church Aug. 8, 1970. They celebrated 50 years of marriage last year.

Barbara worked for many years as an executive secretary and was much admired for her typing skills. She enjoyed playing the piano, collecting recipes, shopping at antique and thrift stores, watching game shows and doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Saturn Road Church of Christ.

Besides her beloved husband Michael Stewart, she leaves her son Todd Stewart and his husband Dr. Edmund Cibas of Boston, Massachusetts; daughter Tracy and partner Tony Alva of Mesquite; daughter Taylor and husband Daniel Hooberry of Garland; and five grandchildren: Tyler, Brynlee, Boston, Zeke and Kaia.
