Juan Lou Banks was born November 28, 1934, in Garland, Texas. He transitioned to eternity June 11, 2019, at age 84.
Juan attended Garland Colored School in Garland and Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas. He went on to enjoy a career working in distribution at Kraft Foods for 25 years until he retired. He married Cora Jones on August 13, 1955, and the two made their home in Garland. They remained united in marriage for 63 years until Juan’s transition.
At a young age, Juan accepted Christ and was baptized at Sims Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Affectionately regarded as “Juan L.,” he delighted in playing pool, visiting the casino, playing baseball and caring for his truck and car about which he was very particular. Juan especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, as he loved them dearly.
A hard-working, reliable and responsible man with a great sense of humor, Juan L. Banks will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Hattie Simmons Banks; great-granddaughter, Angelica Lacy; and siblings: W.G. Banks, Joe Banks, Sr., Jimmy Banks, Nellie Montgomery and Thelma Turner. Those left to cherish precious memories include his wife, Cora; children: Cathy Lacy (Paul), Ronnie Banks (Elsa), Ernie Banks, Harriett Banks and Bruce Chester (Paulette); grandchildren: Veronica Cross (Lynn), Brian Lacy (Jessica), Christopher Lacy, Dawntoya Thomason (Adam), Leia Wilson, Randall Cyrus (Courtney), Nakisha Williams, Tracie Hill, Sascha Chester and Paige Wigenton; many great-grandchildren; special niece, Carol Montgomery; and a host of other relatives and friends.
