Obituary: Kathryn Burnett

Sep. 16, 2020

September 13, 1968 – September 19, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathryn, our loving and devoted mother, sister, daughter, and friend to all whose lives she touched.

She left us unexpectedly and much too soon Sept. 10, 2020. She was 51. Kathryn was born in Dallas and raised in Garland. She left behind her two beautiful sons, Billy and Jack; her mother Alice; her sister Donna; her brothers David, Kevin and Patrick; her German Shepherd Maya; and Bill the Ex. She is preceded in death by Michael Malone, her father.

Kathryn graduated from South Garland High School and attended the University of North Texas in Denton. In high school, Kathryn was an active and enthusiastic member of her high school’s National FFA Organization where she and her father, Michael Malone, spent some of their best moments together.

At the University of North Texas in Denton, Kathryn met Bill Burnett, her first and only husband of 26 years. They moved to Boca Raton in 1994, had two beautiful boys, Billy and Jack, and spent more than two decades in Palm Beach County.

The words “I love you” were spoken early and often in her home and full warm hugs were a staple of her emotional diet. Born into a large family, she learned to cook from her mom in Texas, but it was clear that she had God given brilliance and genius when it came to cooking. Anything and everything in the realm of cooking came easy for her without any formal training, and every meal she made was a masterpiece; from pancakes to a full Thanksgiving menu, Kathryn’s cooking was heavenly.

Kathryn was a family person. She spoke to her mother every single day. She loved her brothers and sister Donna for who they were, and she would have done anything for any of them and often did. Anyone can tell you that Billy and Jack are two beautiful and kind souls on this planet. Like most kids, they have many traits from both parents, but the purity of their basic innate kindness came from their mom Kathryn Michele. We will miss her and cherish our time with her forever.

There will be a service Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11:30 a.m. at: Sacred Heart Cemetery 3900 Rowlett Road in Rowlett 75088, 972-412-0660 There will be a short walk to the resting site after the service for the Final Blessing.

Kathryn is your classic flower lover. Flowers can be sent to Kathryn’s mother’s home @ 1414 Carriage Lane in Garland 75043
