Obituary: Laurie Ann Thompson

Laurie Ann Thompson, age 61, went to be with the Lord Monday, September 4, 2023. Laurie was born in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on Dec.7, 1961. She is survived by her brother James Thompson from Hamilton, Texas, sister Kathrine Elizabeth Thompson of Waco, Texas, and stepmother Naomi Thompson of Hamilton, Texas.

Throughout her life Laurie worked numerous Jobs. She served as overseer and supervisor for the Department of Public Safety at the underground command post, as a dispatcher in Austin, Texas; a 911 dispatcher for the City of Austin. In addition, Laurie was a Flight for Life dispatcher in Las Vegas, Nevada. She also shared supervision for Orientation and Mobility at The Lighthouse for The Blind in Dallas, Texas. Additionally, Laurie was a retired Orientation and Mobility instructor for the Garland Independent School District. Laurie was currently employed by the Pflugerville School District to oversee, teach and train the visually impaired. She is a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree, in Visual Impairments & Orientation and Mobility from, Stephen F. Austin University, Nacogdoches, Texas.

Visitation will be held at Riley Funeral Home, 402 W. Main, Hamilton 76531 Wednesday, September 13 at 11 a.m. Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 13 at 2 p.m. also at Riley Funeral Chapel. Burial will be Wednesday, September 13 at Old IOOF Cemetery, Highway 281 North, Hamilton 76531.

She was a believer in Christ. She was a good friend to many people as well as co-workers and will be missed by all who knew her.
