Leslie Vaughn Gray, age 80, a 60+ year resident of Rockwall, TX, passed away April 4, 2022. He was born January 3, 1942, in Teague, TX, to Woodrow Henry Gray and Martha Anna (Vaughn) Gray. After high school, Leslie joined the US Navy Air and was very proud of his service to his country. Leslie loved and collected antique & classic cars. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club, Metroplex Early Birds, Rockwall County Historical Foundation, Rockwall Republican Men’s Club, Dallas Early Ford V8 Club, 1960 Garland High School Reunion Committee and he was the current club president of the Big “D” Little Birds. Les was a hard worker and he enjoyed his family, friends, old car road trips, and working in his garden with his granddaughter. He was in the fuel system service, supply and construction business from 1966-2011. He built his own business in 1975 and successfully operated it for over 36 years. Les Gray & Company, Inc. was his baby until he retired in 2011. He will be missed dearly by so many that knew and loved him.
Leslie is survived by his loving wife of 56 years: Maxine Crowder Gray; son: Jerry Gray and wife Trisha; grandchild: Alexa Claire Gray; siblings: Virginia Ann Walden, Carolyn Callender, Patricia Highland and a most trusted friend of over 43 years, Mary Jane Tate; plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Woodrow and Martha Gray; step-mother: Mary Gray; and siblings: Roy Metcalfe, and Terry Metcalfe.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall, TX. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall location, Friday, April 15, 2022.
