Robert Lee Mathis of Garland, Texas was born September 14, 1953, to Loyd and Gracie Mathis. He passed away from this life on July 9, 2020. He is survived by sister Patricia Turinsky and her husband Bill of Tyler, Texas and brothers Roger Mathis of Garland and Ronny Mathis of Yantis, Texas, niece Candice Jones of Tyler and great-niece Kaley Bree McKinney of Tyler.
Robert graduated from North Garland High School in 1973 and was an avid amateur boxer. He participated in the Golden Gloves and while serving in the U.S. Army he won the All-Army European championship and an invitation to the Olympics as an alternate. Robert retired from Eco Lab in Garland. Robert was a member of Masonic Lodge # 441 and Duck Creek Lodge # 1419.
